The Beginning of my Blogging

I am new to this blogging, but feel it will be a good way to express my thoughts and release some energy/stress.  I wasn't aware of the power of  blogging until I came across Courtney Roths blog "E Being a Mommy".  It is the story of her son and his battle with the terrrible disease EB.  By reading her blog, my relationship with Jesus has grown and I tend to think more about my actions and their effects on others.  I will turn 50 this year - 50 years young!  I never thought I would make it past my 30's.  My mother died from breast cancer at the young age of 38.  Her mother died from ovarian cancer in her early 50's.  My sister and grew up not wondering if we were going to get cancer, but when were we going to get cancer.  My sister was the first to receive the diagnosis of breast cancer.  She was then genetically tested and tested positive for the mutated BRCA1 gene.  I was then tested and also tested positive.  I then underwent prophylactic mastectomies and a complete hysterectomy.  This lowered  my risk immensely, from an 87% risk of getting cancer in my lifetime to a less than 7%.   I will tell you more about my story later.  Happy to be blogging!
